IS IT AGE? MY PERSONALITY?
On Christmas Day, 2010, I drove in the dark to my son's home to Celebrate Christmas with his family and his Inlaws. I went early because my son and family wanted to leave early in the day to drive to Virginia from Asheville. My opportunity to spend time with my Grandsons was going to be only as long as it took to open presents and get some photos of our celebration.
The forecast for the day was sleet/ice for the entire day. I had come before the snow started (just - it was snowing when I drove into my son's drive. I've written this so many times, I am bored with the process.... We all were in fast motion, the kids opening presents, me snapping pictures of future Star Wars characters, Mom and Dad packing the car - but not one of us mentioning that the snow had been coming down steady until 10:00 in the morning .
The other Grandparents got ready to leave, I had parked in last, so I got to leave first. I do not have 4-wheel Drive so there was every reason for caution. There was no road service for their subdivision, so I didn't get above 10 miles per hour. Their house is at 3500 feet, but the road that leads to the house is all at 500 feet elevation, and it was covered with ice. About 3/4 of the way to the intersection with State Road 70, I was the first to happen upon an accident, 3 cars involved with an Ambulance arriving just as I did.
The Ambulance got in position to take the injured person, and one of the others involved wave me on past them. I moved around the cars very carefully.

TODAY: 1/23/2010 12 DAYS AFTER EARTHQUAKE AT HAITI
On NPR (National Public Radio) they were explaining the Technical Support Group that is working to organize Technical Capabilities for Haiti so that the country can not only return to contact with the rest of the world and each other within Haiti; but to improve and have capabilities compatibile with what is currently being used today in the rest of the world.
They had someone who specializes in children and how they work with the internet - and were t rying to make sure that the way that it would be set up would allow children even as young as age 7 to use the internet as well. In explaining the research that has been done on children and how they use the computer presently, the following was noted: most kids around the age of seven will use Sponge Bob-Search-engine. Girls will search longer to find what they want to know. Boys will stop if they can't find their answer easily enough. When the girls can't find what they want, they will blame themselves. When the boys can't find what they want, they will blame the computer or the search engine - if they blame anything.
My take on this is: Why not have Sponge Bob jump into the mix right here?
He can say: to the girls - (If it can be determined)
"HEY -YOU!! YES, I'M TALKING TO YOU! CAN'T FIND IT? WELL, IT MAY BE BECAUSE THE QUERY IS NOT DIVERSE ENOUGH, OR YOU DON'T HAVE THE RIGHT COLOR OR IT'S TUESDAY? GIRLS HAVE A TENDENCY TO BLAME THEMSELVES WHEN SOMETHING GOES WRONG - NOT NECESSARY HERE!!!
This is a chance to help change one individual's psychological approach, and perhaps common socially predominate psychological thinking for women - simply by having Sponge Bob catch it early - along with assisting one young man, and also common socially predominate psychological thinking by men - again by Sponge Bob.
Here is a chance to use an opportunity to help change a long standing psychological trait in women and men. Why waste this opportunity? A wise Physician, Haim Ginott, M.D., taught about taking opportunities to teach along with any event if possible.

MY OPINIONS:

TODAY'S OPINIONS: July 15, 2006
The price of oil --- and gasoline has risen to unusual highs. I believe that the prices will continue to rise, that the problem of oil exportation will relate to the wars that are in the mid-east.
The world of war is tragic. Economics have dictated far too many events in our lives. I admit that I do not understand a belief that would encourage self-sacrifice - and if that belief is so vital, why is it that the leaders do not show the way?
TODAY'S PURPOSE:
SURROUND YOURSELF WITH PEOPLE OF LIKE SPIRIT
as you think, you are
as you live, you demonstrate your thinking
as you grow, you advise others
WHAT ARE YOU ADVISING TODAY?
